Women and our hair. Black women and our hair. It’s not everything, and it really isn’t our “crowning glory” as it’s been said before.
Case in point, Sandra Dubose-Gibson who entered the Mrs. Black North Carolina pageant and won and stated, “My mission is to be the catalyst that enables women to heal the experiences that have eroded and challenged their self-esteem,” adding, “I am here to help them see the beautiful human beings they truly are and boldly celebrate that beauty and strength from the inside out.”
To her I say, get it!
